In praise of a feline specialist
At The Cardiff Cat Clinic there are no barking dogs, no distracting parrots or enticing hamsters to disturb the feline patients. Instead the air is laced with feline hormones designed to calm the nervous cat. Mine always seemed happy to be there, even when being prodded and probed! The floor is carpeted, and there are cat themed pictures and sculpture to relax the human clients!
By specialising in cat care Michael is able to spot trouble that a general practice might miss, he also keeps abreast of the latest research and development in feline care.
Over the last 22 years I have lived with seven cats, each of whom has presented me with interesting health issues. This is just a sample of the challenges my cats have presented: crushed throat; alopecia; kidney disease; bleeding intestines caused by a massive worm infestation when an abandoned kitten; strained tendons caused by wild acrobatics; hyperthyroidism; shotgun pellet wounds; mysterious dehydration; stomach cancer; diabetes; bad teeth and many, many, wounds and abscesses..
Michael Edwards has dealt with all these, and more. What I remember and appreciate most is his obvious affection for the cats, his continued fascination with his work, his desire to share his knowledge with us, and the sensitivity which he showed during the worst times.
Michael's veterinary skills are rivalled only by his people skills; his gentle manner, enthusiasm and kindness are exceptional.
